KANGA LEAGUE-A RAINY LEAGUE
All said and done. Incessant rains during monsoon season took the shine out as well as academic interest of Kanga League matches seasons after season. During rains it is difficult to reach the ground for players and arranging of umpires is another ticklish issue. As a cricket fan and cricket lover of Mumbai cricket I find the format is not useful to cricketers any way. As a matter of fact now cricket matches are played on covered wickets and hence the experience of playing on wet wickets does not serve the purpose of playing during wet season. Mumbai monsoon meant incessant rains and regular interruptions in the hours of play stipulated. So conducting cricket matches during this period is a futile attempt. Groundsman and Umpires will have a tough time to prepare the wicket in time to start matches as per scheduled time. By the time wicket is ready, the second spell of rains will start and inundate the ground for start of play. This is happening for years and it was right time to scratch such a tournament instead of introducing in a new format as done this year. MCA should plan something similar to Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament like TNCA instead of wasting time during week ends in Mumbai Grounds. It appears that Kanga League is a gone case and becomes a farce because most of the matches in a draw. If MCA feels that just by reviving age old cricket tournament in Mumbai is not going to help MCAs out cricket. We find that Ranji Trophy matches are decided on first innings lead and that played spoilsport as Indian Teams touring overseas play one innings decently and succumb to the pressure in the second essay. Instead of spending huge amount and waste valuable time we can think about an alternative if MCA wish to make the tournament alive as a prestigious issue. It is indeed futile attempt. Kanga League is simply a farce and does not help Mumbai Team in any way.
