INDIA A IN DISARRAY
All said done; the hype, hoopla and hysteria of Indian Cricketers doing well against lower ranked sides came to a naught as the India side lost a 3 match series after being one up in the series. Team captain Yuveraj Singh was praised for his century in the first match. But he is not a captaincy material and just included to give him chance to make a comeback into the Indian side. Players of promise like Badrinath is not getting such a chance to show his worth in any form of the game, whereas tested players get chances despite being failures again and again. When Yuveraj got a hundred against an ordinary attack the press had gone Ga Ga. In the end team lost two matches in a row, one by 55 runs and the third and the decider by 45 runs. This is not a good sign for a team, which perform well only at home and fail miserably when they cross Indian seas. Thus it was a lesson for the selectors, the team coach and the captain not to be complacent after making a winning start. As a matter of fact, the bowling department of the team was very weak and batsmen like Carter and Kirk Edwards took advantage of a poor attack. A captain has to imbibe many qualities to become a leader. He has to have the nerve of a gambler, the patience of a saint and the mind of a psychiatrist and Yuveraj Singh is just a beginner as far as captaincy is concerned. Thus India A suffered a rare series defeat as West Indies rode on Kirk Edwards run riot in the deciding game. Edwards hit a run a ball 104 and other front line batsmen supported him very well. Whereas in Indian Team, Yuveraj Singh played well in patches but to no avail. Now after losing he complained for not building partnerships. As a captain he should lead from the front and build partnerships and not just complaint as he scored some runs. Had Yuveraj hit a purple patch with big hundred in the decider, India A team would have benefited. But for Unadkat, we do not have a strike bowler to curtail the scoring to an achievable level. In the last two encounters India A bowlers gave plenty of runs and when they batted the pressure was on and they succumbed to the better pace attack of Caribbean fast bowlers. India A batsmen showed the old weakness of chasing the ball from Bangalore to Barbados and paid heavy price for the same. Instead of just looking for ratings, Indian players should play positive cricket and work hard on bowling and fielding before issuing statements to press. After winning the first game there were self praise from Yuveraj and the Coach Lalchand Rajput wanted to win the series in a convincing way. In the end West Indies won the vital two games by a big margin and spoiled the India A team party and the captain lost out in the race for supremacy even in our backyard. India A teas was in total disarray.
